Koh Samui, even though an island. It is a busy, pretty island and has so much to offer. Because of beaches, temples, waterfalls, bars, restaurants and  island hopping. Transfer yourself from the main island Samui to the quieter islands next door is easy. Koh Phangan and Koh Tao,  are the smaller quieter islands. Apart from on a full moon when an abundance of thrill seekers  flock to Koh Phangan. Mainly the under 30’s go because of the parties and nightlife. However, Koh Samui is an island not to be missed so much fun is to be gained.

  Hin Ta & Hin Yai Grandfather/ Grandmother Rocks

 So as Thai folklore goes, because an old couple were washed ashore after their boat sank in a storm. Because the two rocks are the old couple, hence Grandfather and Grandmother Rock. With the waves crashing in little coves around these rocks, so holding  pools of calmness and crystal clear water. Around the famous site are  great little bars and restaurants. With a market nearby and stalls to purchase  trinkets  and souvenirs. This interesting and popular tourist destination is found at the southern end of Lamai Beach.

 Big Buddha

This is a must see on Koh Samui. Because its seen from many miles around, sat up high on the rocks. The Big Buddha is not to be missed. Because of the beauty of the statue and also the surrounding landscape. The many little temples that  you can enter and explore. Be enchanted by the décor and colours that wash over you as you walk around this magical place. Make sure you are dressed appropriately. Shawls are provided so walk the steps and gaze up at the golden figure.

Known as the Secret Buddha Garden. Up in the hills of the jungle find this  hideaway. Go by scooter, walk among the tress and the small waterfalls. You will find many  exquisite statues. A wrong turn  and a closer look may find you yet another hidden surprise. The views from within the gardens and the road are so spectacular. There are a lot of stops on the way to enjoy these breathtaking views. Travelling around Koh Samui is best by hiring a scooter. There are many places over the island to find hire shops. Jump on and explore.

Take a trip up to the Waterfalls and be blown away because of the most eye-popping scenery. Hidden in the mountains and tress there are a number of waterfalls you can climb. Cool off with a swim in the pools so feel the full force of the waterfall descending on you. Be at one with nature and take in the natural beauty surrounding you and dive right in.

Koh Samui By Night

The nightlife of Koh Samui is nothing but excitement. Nestle your toes into the sandy beach while sinking into bean bags sipping on a cocktail watching the sun go down and the tide come in. Watch the fire shows after dark with such an extraordinary display and can be seen dotted down the beach. Gaze at the lanterns being let go along the shore, raising higher and higher into the dark night. Turning into little burning stars. Or if you are up for dancing the night away? Many of the beachside venues hold discos and DJs until the early hours of the morning.

Whatever the experience you are hoping from this island. Koh Samui will not disappoint. Relaxing or partying it has everything to offer and much more. Or… If it is not for you hop on the ferry that can take you to the next island of calm. Koh Samui Can be reached from Bangsaray Villa in about 5 hours with a flight from U-Tapoa to Trat and bus to ferry to Koh Samui.
